CJ NELSON EPOXY MATRIX SURFBOARDS
Each EPS fused cell blank is built utilizing materials and construction methods that deliver precision and consistency board after board. The proprietary multi-component fiberglass stringer system is added to the hand-tuned EPS core to provide longitudinal strength with controlled flex in the nose and twist in the tail.
The EPS blank with stringer system is reinforced with hand laminated fiberglass, which is then encased and bonded to a high-density foam shell using epoxy resin to form the completed blank. This blank is then cured in a precision mold that locks in the same rocker and rail profile for every board – the only way to make every board a magic board.
Our blanks have more materials and labor than many finished surfboards, but this is just the beginning for us. Once completed, our blanks are then hand laminated using combinations of fiberglass and XEON Fiberglass, or Carbon Fiber to yield the finest epoxy constructions in the world.
CJ Nelson partnered with Australian Shaper Ian “Chissa” Chisholm to design longboards and fun shapes at the highest levels of quality and performance. Chissa has been hand shaping and building traditional PU boards in Torquay, Australia since 1995, and takes great pride in his craftsmanship. Combined with CJ’s talent in the water and board knowledge, these shapes are tried and true for performance and style. Traditional PU shapes have been tuned to take full advantage of the advanced materials and characteristics of this new EPOXY MATRIX technology.
